Our Top Festive Wedding Tips

Now that the Christmas party season is in full swing, we thought we’d give you our top tips on how to create a truly magical winter wonderland wedding to give you and your guests a wedding event to remember:

• Wedding dresses shouldn’t be limited to the traditional white or deep red for a Christmas wedding – go for berry shades which are warm and inviting, or shimmering silver tones for a magical, Christmas vibe.

• Once you have chosen your wedding dress be sure to opt for a bolero or a shrug to keep you warm when moving from the church to the evening venue. If it’s good enough for the stunning Duchess of Cambridge, it’s definitely good enough for us. Your bridesmaids will also thank you for having the option to wear a pashmina or similar shoulder covering to prevent them from shivering in the wedding photographs!

• If possible, take a sample of your wedding dress fabric to show your florist, and ask her to come up with some Christmas themed ideas for your bouquet and table flowers. Deep purple calla lilies contrast beautifully with a stark white background, or go for the traditional red, green and gold colour theme.

• Be sure to send your ‘Save the Date’ cards out earlier than usual in order to prevent the usual pre-Christmas rush of bookings for parties and work nights out – you don’t want your key guests to have to miss your big day as they are already full booked!

• Go all out on your table decorations to provide a talking point for guests who may not be familiar with each other. Tiny Christmas hats look gorgeous attached to wine glasses, and go for candy cane striped straws for your younger guests. Opt for natural winter flower options for your tables where possible, and twinkling fairy lights dotted around the room can help to add extra ambience to your venue. Tiny Santa sacks make fantastic holders for your wedding favours and will give your guests a gift to remember.

• Dot some mistletoe around your wedding venue to surprise your guests and inject a source of entertainment to the proceedings.

• Don’t feel that you have to stick with sparkling wine and canapes for your welcome drink – go for mulled wine and mince pies for a truly festive approach.
